SDO-Caloocan held the first day and opening of MAPEH Virtual Festival of Talents on February 24, 2021 at 8:00 in the morning, with the theme “Alab Sining, Alay Sigla”, which aims to enhance, hone and develop the students’ brilliant and exceptional skills and talents.

According to Marjorie, participants from the division level were given three hours to think and rummage through their head after the theme “Pagbangon sa pagsubok sa hamon ng napapanahong sistema ng edukasyon” was given.

She said that she was nervous at first but with the help of her coach, Mr. Robert Vasquez, grade eight MAPEH teacher, she made it successfully and felt overwhelmed after winning unexpectedly.

“No po, kasi po ‘yong mga kalaban ko po ang gaganda po talaga ng gawa nila tsaka po connected po talaga sa theme din.” She replied after asking if she expected her victory.

She said that she had encountered difficulties during the contest and found it hard thinking of a subject that has connection to the theme given and the combinations of colors to be used.

“Nung ipapakita ko na po yung ipipin sa gmeet kasi po ipapakita na po yung gawa bigla pong nalowbat yung cellphone po na gamit ko” she added, “then, minsan po putol putol po.”

But despite all the odds, she managed to overcome all of it and barged her way to the top. Her next step is to undergo more training by watching videos from YouTube and tips from her coach to improve more as she competes again in the regionals.

She ended the interview with a heartfelt and inspiring message to all the readers and aspiring artists.

“Sa mga readers po and aspiring artists po ang message ko po ay palagi pong magtiwala sa sarili na kaya mo, wag mo pong iddown yung sarili mo kasi when you believe po something can be done and your mind will find the ways to do it and last po maging humble po palagi.”
