Grade 10 mover grabs first place in 'Festival of Talents'

Alieza Mae Alvarez, 16, a grade 10 student, won first-place in the district level competition 'Caloocan MAPEH Virtual Festival of Talents’ with the theme: “Alab sining, Alay sigla” as it continued to its day-two on February 19 via FB live.

      In the mid of second quarter of the school year, Alieza, a grade 10 student, represented her institution, Sampaguita High School, by submitting her entry to the district level competition of the MAPEH Festival of Talents held last February 19, 2021.

      Her teacher-coach, Mrs. Roselyn Sumagaysay, gave her the spot and opportunity to give her best shot on the first round of the competition after choosing Alieza among the other aspiring dancers prior on the contest.

      According to her, being a representative to a division hip-hop category dance contest is an unexpected opportunity to take, but out of 7 participants, Alieza was crowned champion and given the chance to shine in the division level.

"First noon blangko ng husto utak ko kase di naman ako nagexpect na manalo, I'm not fully confident about it because I'm afraid that I might disappoint them with my moves that's why it's really unexpected to be chosen as the representative,” She uttered, “I really can't express my feelings after winning the district level."

      She also mentioned that she was overwhelmed as it was her first time joining an inter-school contest, and she was filled with delight knowing that her parents are proud of her achievements.

      Despite of her doubts to make it for the next level, she continued, "I didn't let my insecurities affect my performance, instead I use it as a motivation to step up. My friends, family, my teachers , the thousand students of sampaguita, my coach (Ma'am Sumagaysay) along with the whole mapeh department, who trusted and guided me through out the competition, are my motivations and the reason why I remain strong and strive for the best".

      Aside from being an aspiring make up artist, Alieza is known of having the passion for dancing, she stated,  "Sad to say that I didn't make it till the NCR level, but still I'm thankful for the chance that has given to me to share my talent".

      According to her, she wants to join a dance class to improve her skills, but since she can't afford joining a one, she does self-learning dance sessions by watching tutorials online.

      She also gave her message for the aspiring talented dancers: "For aspiring dancers like me ang masasabi ko lang ay wag tayong matakot na mag iexplore ang mga talento natin dahil lahat naman tayo nag uumpisa sa mababa at habang tumatagal maabot den naten ung level ng mga iniidolo naten".

      Alieza grabs the chance to show her gratitude for her supporters, leaving them a message, "First of all thank u for alll the support hinde ko yon magagawa kung wala kayo dahil lagi akong pinang hihinaan ng loob pero dahil sa suporta nyo natuto akong lumaban at iimprove ag sarili ko".

      Alieza is known for her talent since she was still a little girl and showcased it in different contests in Sampaguita High School way back from her seventh grade up to the present. 
 

      Though she did not make it to the Regional-level, she will always be a winner and champion in the hearts of the Sampaguitarians.
