Sampaguita High School goes Live!
SHS prepares for Distance Learning through Webinar Series
Caloocan, Philippines – Sampaguita High School is currently preparing for the new normal school set-up through series of webinar entitled “Familiarization on the Use of Google Applications as preparation for the New Normal Set-up” started last June 25 via Facebook Live.

Mr. Dennis Draper, a teacher of Sampaguita HS, was one of the teachers who thinks of how he would improve his skills in the digital world of teaching this coming school year opening on August 24.
Upon hearing the news that Sampaguita High School has plans of helping the teachers like him to cope up with this kind of problem, he felt that something new will come and the solution for his concerns is on the way.

The said activity was initiated by the Sampaguita High School principal Dr. Ginalyn B. Dignos with the help of the newly formed team of teachers named “Sampaguita High School Technical Support Group” headed by the ICT Coordinator Mr. Jayson P. Incion and composed of the ICT representatives of each learning area department.
Approximately 117 SHS teachers participated in the first day of the event that started last June 25, 2020 with the starting line-up of speakers/demonstrators Mr. Jayson P. Incion for the Google Suites and Google Drive Orientation and Mr. Anthony E. Contrevida for the use of Google Forms as assessment tool.
According to the principal, the webinar series was made for the preparation and adaptation of the new normal setting due to the outbreak of the pandemic COVID19.
“This Familiarization on the Use of Google Applications for the New Normal Classroom Set-up organized by the committed and dependable ICT team lead by Mr. Jayson Incion is actually one of the featured training for teachers laid up to capacitate everyone as we all help each other sa pagtupad at pagsulong ng edukalidad para sa ating mag-aaral may Covid19 man o wala.” Dr. Dignos said in her opening remarks.
In one of her interviews, she mentioned that the webinar series aims to help teachers of SHS acquire the necessary technical and pedagogical skills as they integrate digital applications and devices in distance learning. According to her, It also intends
to provide support training for them in adapting changes in lesson delivery and management under the new normal classroom. She also added that as a school head, this is her response to the challenges in education brought by this pandemic. She said that she supports learning continuity and quality education must still be delivered despite challenges. She also explained that teachers must be trained because they are one great resource of the school and continuous education and training are paramount to their well-being as educators.
The second and third day of the webinar series is scheduled on June 29 and July 1. There will be more learnings awaiting for our dear teachers in the coming days to improve not only their skills but also the quality of education as well in this time of pandemic.
