SHS 9th-grader Procures Champion in Festival of Talents District IV level Anew

After triumphantly grabbing a winning spot on last year's Poster-making contest, Marjorie Bacsal, a grade 9 student was declared as the champion on Poster Making Contest, District IV level which was held via google meet on March 15, 2022 and anticipated to contend on division level.

The said competition was instigated by the two moderators, Mrs. Rita De Ciles and Mr. Richard Susano, teachers from Sampaguita High School and has a theme of "Sining ng Pag-asa" which aims to be celebrated as an opportunity for the students to express their artistry.

With the guidance of Ms. Diane Tolentino, grade 9 teacher, Marjorie competed with a total of six various schools from secondary level. In an interview, Marjorie stated her reaction when she was crowned as the champion which made her attain the title as a back-to-back winner.

"It feels incredible, especially in a massive competition. I didn't expect it because when I saw the works of my opponents, sinabi ko kay Lord na, 'kahit makapasok lang ako sa 3rd place, okay na ko Lord' and yes, grabe yung saya ko that time kasi yung hiniling mo mas hinigitan pa ni Lord,

binigay nya na naman sakin yung champion kaya I'm both grateful and blessed na ako na naman ang ilalaban sa division level," she uttered.

When the Festival of Talents 2022 district IV level champion was asked about her key for winning the contest, she replied that before she contested, she spent her time searching for something that could be used as a theme for the on-the-spot competition as preparation.

"Nagsearch ako na pwedeng gawing theme sa on-the-spot competition, nagpractice para alam ko yung posible na ilabas na topic and especially I talk to God na whatever happens I will accept it," Marjorie added.

Marjorie also shared how she overcame her greatest struggles in conquering the winning spot all along her journey of contending with a bunch of outstanding participants in the competition.

"My greatest struggle is when I lost my passion in art when it was my only escape. Art is the only thing that would distract me from my stress. Yes I can't seem to draw anything, my hands feel tense and I always felt that what I make is not good enough. That time sinabi ko sa sarili ko na pahinga lang, babalik rin ako," she stated.

Before the interview ended, Marjorie wholeheartedly left an inspirational message for her fellow students.

"Ang message ko para sa kapwa ko students ay kung ano man ang mga pagsubok or problema nyo sa buhay ay wag nyong hahayaang madamay ang iyong talento kung nafefeel nyo na dinyo na kaya, isipin nyo kung paano kayo nagsimula. Take a risk and pursue your dreams malay mo balang araw yan ang maging trabaho in the future. Just trust the process. Walang artist na biglang boom agad. Lahat nagsimula sa scratch. Tanim now, harvest later. Kaya 'wag mawalan

ng pag-asa kung matumal ang simula. May panahon na matatalo o madadapa tayo because God's plan for you is not a straight line. You may encounter curves, detours and stop overs but don't worry God knows what exactly He is doing. Kaya continues and trusts His process!" Marjorie said.

In the 2021 Poster-making contest, Marjorie Bacsal is well-known for obtaining the coveted Champion's spot on District Level and 2nd Place on Division level.
